Rare and exceptional set of knives for 36 people with steel blades marked and mammoth tooth handles. The set was made for Simpson's-in-the-Strand, one of London's oldest traditional English restaurants (modestly started in 1828 as a smoking club), and each blade is marked with the image of a crown and Simpson, 55 Strand, London beneath.
The set comprises:
36 table knives
36 dessert knives
4 carving knives
4 carving forks
The entire set is fitted in a beautiful and original wooden canteen inlaid with a brass shield on the lid and brass key and keyhole surround. Suffice to say, this is an extremely rare set and in exceptional condition.
