Old English silver cutlery set for 6

Old English silver cutlery set for 6

Sold

Fine, hand-forged silver cutlery set for six in the Old English pattern. Originating in the 1750s, Old English pattern with its simple clean lines, showing a single thumbnail to the reverse of the bowl and the pip on the front of the forks and the back of the spoons, is the definitive British flatware pattern and remains the most popular pattern through to the present day.

Most pieces were made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, London between 1902 and 1931. Since antique knives rarely survive, the set is completed with six pairs of new Old English Pip pattern silver knives matt, stainless steel fingerpoint blades, making them safe for the dishwasher.
