An elegant pair of antique silver candlesticks made in the neoclassical Adam style of the period in the late 18th century during the reign of King George III. This pair of Georgian silver candlesticks is tapering in form and decorated with bands of thread pattern around the bases stems and detachable nozzles. The bases are inset with wood to provide stability.

The Adam style is a neoclassical style of architecture and interior design that found its niche from the late 1760s in upper and middle-class residences in England, Scotland, Russia and the USA and named after Scottish architect William Adam and his sons, of whom James Adam and Robert Adam were the most widely known.
The Adam brothers advocated an integrated style for architecture and interiors where everything was designed by the Adams as a single neoclassical scheme.
