This elegant pair of antique silver Corinthian candlesticks feature all the classical design cues with square stepped bases and gadroon pattern edging, fluted stems and acanthus leaf capitals. Their original hallmarked nozzles are removable to aid cleaning.
The Corinthian column is almost always fluted and is the most ornate, slender and sleek of the three Greek architectural orders; the other two being Ionic and Doric. Corinthian column silver candlesticks are distinguished by a decorative, bell-shaped capital with volutes, two rows of acanthus leaves and an elaborate cornice.
