Early 20th century American two-colour-gold cigarette case made by Cartier in New York. The elegance of the case is reflected in the alternating bands of ribbed rose 14k gold, and 14k yellow gold featuring a delicate engine-turned fan decoration in the Art Deco style.

Art Deco was a popular design style in the 1920s and 1930s characterised especially by sleek geometric or stylised forms. It represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. For that reason silver cocktail and barware were popular categories of goods to reflect the style of the time.
